Compress Video for Email
Shrink a video so it fits as an email attachment, with smaller sizes ready if a mail server is stricter.
Drop videos to compress
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV · up to 4 GB each · stays on your device
This browser can't re-save MP4 and MOV videos, so they can't be compressed here. WebM and MKV videos always work, re-saved at the quality you pick. You can load a core for this, or convert it to WebM first.
Long video? A shorter or smaller one holds up better at this size, so trim it or resize it first.

Why this page starts at 20 MB
Gmail's limit for personal accounts is 25 MB. Over that, it swaps the attachment for a Google Drive link. Microsoft's help pages give both 20 MB and 25 MB for Outlook. The person you're writing to has a mail server with its own limit, and you can't see it from your side. A 20 MB file gets past more of those than a 25 MB file does.
Attachments grow on the way
Email carries files as text, using an encoding called base64 that adds about a third to the size. Some mail servers count the bigger number.
| 25 MB | Travels as about 33 MB. |
| 20 MB | Travels as about 27 MB. |
| 15 MB | Travels as about 20 MB. Try this if a 20 MB file bounces. |
When a link is the better choice
At 20 MB, a 2 minute video gets about 1.3 Mbps, a 5 minute video about 0.5 Mbps, and a 10 minute video about 0.27 Mbps, picture and sound together. Past 5 minutes it's going to look rough however it's encoded. If the person only needs to watch it, a Google Drive or OneDrive link keeps the original quality, and attachment limits don't apply.
