Exact matches are confirmed by SHA-256 after a cheap size pre-group, so files with a size no other file shares are never hashed. Look alikes compare 64-bit dHash fingerprints from a 9 by 8 greyscale downscale, chained so a burst of similar shots lands in one group. This tool never deletes anything: it writes a files to delete.txt for you to finish the job in Finder, Files, or your iCloud library. Capture dates are not read here, so the keep suggestion ranks by pixel count and then path length. Formats your browser cannot decode (HEIC in some browsers, RAW files) still get the exact byte comparison, just no look alike check.

Scan setup

Groups photos that look nearly identical, not just byte copies.
How many of the 64 fingerprint bits may differ. Lower is stricter.

Up to 5,000 photos, 100 megapixels each. Unique file sizes skip hashing entirely, so a batch of one-of-each finishes fast.
