Postal code to coordinates

Converts lists of postal codes to representative coordinates with place names and admin divisions from a bundled offline dataset, flagging every code it cannot match.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Paste codes to resolve them to points.

Coordinates publish as-is from the bundled dataset: the representative point for the code, not an address, and never interpolated. The bundled starter set carries a handful of sample rows per country, not the full GeoNames export, which the page credits under CC BY 4.0; a dated snapshot also means new codes can be missing and retired ones can linger. Unresolved codes keep their row with empty coordinates and a reason, so exports line up one to one with what you pasted. Nothing is sent to a geocoder.

Codes

CountryCodes are unique only inside one country, so one run reads one dataset
One code per line, or a pasted CSV column (the first field is used). Up to 2,000 codes.

Spaces, hyphens, and case never block a match. A code with no exact match falls back to its longest leading part, down to two characters, which is the normal case for UK outward codes; those rows carry a leading-part flag and a count of the places sharing the key. An obvious header row on a pasted column is dropped and reported.
