Flight time calculator

Work out real flight duration from ticket-style local times in two zones, or get the arrival time back from a duration, date lines handled.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Enter a departure to time the flight.

The duration here is the whole block between the two ticket times, so it includes taxi, holding and any schedule padding; airlines advertise block time too, which is why it rarely matches air-traffic figures. The distance is great-circle over a sphere, straight over the map: real routings bend around airspace and weather and usually fly a few percent farther. Zone rules come from your browser's own IANA tables.

Trip

Mode

Airports only add great-circle distance and an implied speed. Time zones stay hand-picked: open airport data carries coordinates, not zones.

Dates between 1900 and 2200. A skipped spring-forward time moves forward and is flagged; a repeated fall-back time takes the earlier occurrence and is flagged too.
