Email subject line tester

Scores up to twenty subject lines for length, mobile and desktop truncation, caps and punctuation overuse, spam-trigger phrases, merge tokens and emoji, with truncation previews and a variant comparison table.

Report a problem

Enter one or more subject lines to score them.

The spam list is a habit check, not a verdict: real filters weigh the sender, the domain, authentication, and the whole message, so a flagged word is a reason to look twice, not proof of the junk folder. Merge tokens are excluded from visible length because the resolved value is what subscribers see; how many characters your merge field adds is unknowable here. Truncation points assume an average glyph width and emoji at about two slots, so treat the previews as close estimates rather than pixel truth.

The widths convert to character budgets at about 8 px per glyph, so the previews are approximations, not screenshots. Change them to match the inbox you design for.
