Citation coverage checker

Map bracketed citations to sentences and a reference list, then flag uncited factual sentences, dangling markers, unused references and out of order numbers.

Coverage map

Paste a text with citations to map its coverage.

This tool maps coverage and nothing more. It never opens a source and never judges whether a source supports the sentence it is attached to. The sentence splitter treats a period, question mark, or exclamation mark followed by a space as the end of a sentence, so abbreviations like "e.g." can split early. A sentence with no citation counts as uncited when it has six or more words or any digit in it; short fragments and headings are listed but not flagged. Markers at the start of a line join the sentence before them, which is where trailing citations end up after a line break.

Reference list

One entry per line, like [1] Author, Title, URL. Fills in here replace any list found in the text.

Ranges like [2-3] expand up to 50 wide, one marker can list up to a few dozen numbers, and the list accepts up to 1,000 entries.
