Bibliography deduplicator

Find duplicate references in pasted BibTeX or RIS by DOI, normalised title, year, and first author, review each cluster, and download a clean merged file.

Your library

Up to 400,000 characters

Scan

Paste a library to scan it.

Everything runs in this tab. No record is uploaded, and no DOI or title is looked up online, so a reference can only match another reference that is in the paste. The parser is tolerant, not certified: standard BibTeX entries and RIS tag lines read fine, exotic macros and nonstandard dialects may not. Title similarity compares cleaned plain letters of both titles, so LaTeX accent commands are ignored rather than interpreted. The clean library downloads as BibTeX, with RIS records converted and citation keys made unique.

Matching

Needed to match without a DOI. Years and first author surnames must also agree.
One export has the DOI, the other the abstract: blanks in the kept record take the duplicate's value.
More settings▾

Two records with different DOIs never merge, whatever the titles look like. Records without a DOI match on title similarity alone if no year or first author disagrees. Pasted libraries cap at 400,000 characters and 3,000 records per scan.

When a cluster has more than one record, pick the survivor with the Keep choice in the review below. The default keeps the first record of the cluster.
