DNS propagation checker

Query several major public resolvers at once and compare their answers side by side to see whether a DNS change has reached the caches.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Type a domain and press Check propagation

The four answers are what each resolver's cache holds right now, shown side by side.

DNS has no push step to watch: a resolver answers from its cache until the record's TTL runs out, then asks the authoritative servers again. That is why a change “propagates” at different moments per resolver, and why a mixed result here is normal mid-transition behavior rather than a fault; the TTL window in the result is how long the disagreement can last. This tool compares four well-known public resolvers, not every resolver worldwide, and it cannot see your own ISP's cache or a resolver that ignores TTLs. If a resolver's endpoint refuses browser cross-origin reads, its row says unavailable instead of quietly disappearing.

International names go in punycode (xn--)

What leaves your browser

Your query goes over DNS-over-HTTPS JSON to Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, and OpenDNS, once each, and nowhere else. This page leaves your browser only when you press the button; never on load, never in the background. Nothing is sent anywhere else. Google Analytics still measures the visit to this page, and it never receives what you run through this tool.
