Restore old photo

Each stage is a classic darkroom-style filter. Denoising is a median filter over luminance, so it calms grain without repainting color. Scratch removal looks for specks that stand out from the median of their neighborhood and fills them from nearby pixels; it finds thin lines and spots, not tears or missing corners, and at high sensitivity it can eat fine texture. Fade correction stretches the histogram back toward full black and white, either per channel (which pulls a sepia shift toward neutral) or as a single brightness stretch that keeps the tint. The skin-tone stage sharpens areas that match a skin color rule; it is a color heuristic, not face detection, and it will not rebuild facial detail. The 2x size option is plain bilinear interpolation, which enlarges smoothly but invents no detail.

Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored: the photo is decoded, processed, and encoded entirely in this tab, and closing the tab erases it. For heavy damage such as large tears, stains, or missing areas, this tool is the wrong instrument; those need manual retouching. The quality slider applies to JPG and WebP only, PNG always encodes losslessly.
