Scroll wheel test

Scroll in a test box and the tool counts steps per direction, flags wrong-direction stray ticks from a worn encoder, and reports delta units and step size.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

First scroll starts the run · window 50 ms (default 50)

Scroll in the box above, then press Score this run.

The classifier only calls a tick stray when a reversal lands inside the window and the wheel then returns to the direction it had before, so changing your mind about which way to scroll never counts. Everything is counted in this tab from the events the browser hands over: nothing is uploaded, and no verdict here is a repair order. A wheel that fails this test can still be working as the manufacturer designed it with free-spinning or high-resolution modes, which produce big steps and dense ticks by intent.

Test setup

Stray windowHow fast a reversal must snap back to count as a fault

Do at least 30 events in each direction at a normal pace. If your mouse has a tilt wheel, push it sideways too. Counts are comparable within one browser, not across browsers: Firefox on Windows reports lines while Chrome reports pixels, so notch counts do not transfer.
