US routing number validator

Validates US ABA routing numbers with the 3 7 1 weighted checksum and decodes the Federal Reserve district and symbol type.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Routing number, or one per line

Spaces and dashes are ignored; blank lines are dropped

Paste one routing number or a list to validate them.

Every check runs in this tab and nothing is uploaded. Be honest with yourself about what a pass means: the weighted sum of any nine digits is 0 to 81, so roughly one number in ten passes the checksum by luck alone. A pass means the digits are internally consistent with the ABA scheme; it does not prove a bank exists or owns that number. No bank-name directory is bundled, since a stale copy is worse than none; the Federal Reserve publishes the E-Payments Routing Directory for that. This tool also cannot decode FedACH participation or wire eligibility.

Examples

Up to 2,000 numbers, one per line, within 100k characters. Spaces and dashes are ignored, so a number copied off a check works as is.
