Card BIN/IIN lookup

Explains what the first six to eight card digits reveal: industry identifier, brand range, and number structure, with honest limits.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Enter the first six to eight digits of a card number.

A worked example: 411111 reads as industry digit 4 (banking and financial), an IIN that names the Visa range, and three possible total lengths (13, 16 or 19) with the Luhn check digit at the very end. The breakdown stops there, because that is all the digits say. Issuer ranges are leased and reassigned, so the same prefix can move between banks over time.

Card prefix

Digits only. Spaces and dashes are stripped

Enter a prefix, never a whole card number. Nine or more digits are refused outright, so a full card number cannot be pasted here by accident.
