Apple app site association validator

Paste an apple-app-site-association file to check app IDs, components, App Clips and shared web credentials, then test URLs to see which rule opens the app and which claims miss.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Paste a file to check it.

The matcher is Apple's, not an approximation: components are read top to bottom and the first one that fits decides, an excluded match or no match at all keeps the link in Safari, and only https URLs can open the app. What this tool cannot see: whether the file is actually reachable at /.well-known/apple-app-site-association, whether Apple's CDN has refreshed it (that can take up to 24 hours), or the "$" substitution variables some files use in defaults.

File and test URLs

Paste the file contents, up to 100,000 characters
One per line, up to 50. Include the ones that should open the app and the ones that should not.
More settings▾

This tool never fetches the file from a domain. It checks what you paste, so hosting problems (wrong content type, redirects, an unreachable path) stay invisible to it.

Matching follows Apple's documented rules: first match wins, "*" covers any run of characters, "?" covers exactly one, and query patterns compare the raw percent-encoded text, case sensitive. Test URLs are capped at 2,048 characters each.
