Zip code format validator

Checks a postal code against the format pattern of eight countries and reports valid or invalid, with no address lookup involved.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Pick a country and enter a postal code to check its shape.

This is format validation only: a pass means the code is shaped like the country's system, not that the code is real, current, or assigned to any address, and there is no lookup that could tell you. The UK check is deliberately loose, the A9A 9AA shape without the sector-level exceptions of the full postal grammar. Canada excludes the letters D, F, I, O, Q and U from letter positions. France's five digits include Corsica's 20xxx range; Germany and Australia also use plain digit counts. All eight patterns are checked offline in your browser.
