Zero-Coupon bond calculator

Price a zero-coupon bond from face value, yield, and years to maturity, or solve the yield from the price you paid, with either compounding.

Report a problem

Fill the bond's terms to price it or solve its yield.

A zero-coupon bond pays nothing along the way, only its face at maturity, so its price is the face value discounted back: face divided by one plus the yield over the compounding periods, raised to the number of periods. Finding the yield runs the same equation the other way with a bisection search over the declared rate window, so the answer is as precise as double arithmetic allows. This is a pricing formula, not a valuation: it knows nothing about default risk, taxes, or the shape of the real yield curve.

Amounts stay within ±1,000,000,000,000, years between 0 and 200 (fractional allowed), and the yield between -99 and 100,000 percent, so a negative rate is priced honestly instead of refused.
