VAT calculator

Add VAT to a net price or remove it from a gross price at any rate you enter, with the VAT amount and the other side shown apart.

Report a problem

Enter an amount and a rate to split it.

Adding: VAT is the amount times the rate, and the gross is amount plus VAT. Removing: a gross price is 100 plus the rate parts of itself, so VAT is gross times rate over 100 plus rate, and the net is what remains. The two directions reverse each other, which the example below the result shows with your own numbers. Figures come out exact with no official rounding rule applied, so a filing figure still needs the rounding your tax authority prescribes. This is arithmetic, not tax advice.

The price

DirectionIs your figure before or after tax?
0 to 100 %, entered by you

Amounts stay within ±1,000,000,000,000 and the rate between 0 and 100 %. There is no country rate table: you type the rate, so a reduced rate or a local variant works the same as a standard one.
