Steps to distance calculator

Converts steps to kilometres and miles from stride or height, estimates calories by pace and weight, and converts a distance back to steps.

Enter a step count or a distance to convert it.

Stride estimates are population averages: terrain, gradient, fatigue and shoes all move the real number, so the measure box is worth using when the distance matters. Calories come from the Compendium of Physical Activities MET values applied to your weight and duration, which is the standard research shortcut, not a measurement; the net figure subtracts resting metabolism so it counts only the walking or running itself. Nothing here is medical advice.

Leave the weight empty to skip the calorie estimate entirely.

The measure box turns a guess into data: walk a known distance, count your steps, and the pair wins over every other stride source. Manual step length and the height estimate come after it.

Both are optional. Calories need a duration: the time field first, then your cadence, then the pace's default.

Numbers stay within ±10,000,000. Heights are 50 to 272 cm and step lengths 20 to 200 cm once converted.
