Screen size calculator

Computes screen width, height, area, pixel density, and seating distances from diagonal and aspect ratio, with a two-screen comparison.

Report a problem

Enter a diagonal to size it up.

The math is exact for the numbers you type, but real panels round: a 55 inch TV is often 54.6 inches of actual glass. PPI assumes the chosen resolution covers the whole panel, so a windowed or stretched picture changes it. The 30, 36 and 40 degree seating numbers are immersion guidance from SMPTE and THX practice, not eye-safety limits. Curved screens and projector throw are out of scope here.

Screen setup

Aspect ratioPresets are the literal ratios; makers round diagonals, so check the spec sheet too
ResolutionFor pixel density only; skip it for pure geometry

The distance drives the seating distances and the suggested size range. The second screen gets its own aspect ratio, same diagonal unit.

Numbers stay within ±1,000,000. Custom pixel dimensions are whole numbers from 16 to 100,000.
