Profit margin calculator

Get gross profit and margin percentage from revenue and cost, or run it backwards to find the revenue a target margin calls for.

Report a problem

Enter a revenue and a cost, or a target margin in reverse mode.

This is gross margin on one item or one order: revenue minus cost, as a share of revenue. It is not net profit; operating costs, tax, interest, and discounts never enter the math. The reverse mode prices a single sale for a target margin and says nothing about whether that price wins customers. Margin and markup are different scales on the same profit: markup divides by cost, margin divides by revenue, so read them side by side before quoting either.

Money stays within ±1,000,000,000,000. Markup is reported alongside margin because the two diverge: a 50 percent markup is only a 33.3 percent margin.
