Petty cash tracker

Runs an imprest petty cash book with a running balance, float top-up and reconciliation against counted cash, all in the tab.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Enter an opening balance to open the book.

Nothing is stored between visits: closing the tab loses the book, so keep the CSV. The book holds entry order and never re-sorts, does not post to a ledger, and carries one currency at a time, whatever unit you type. The imprest cross-check is the point of the method: after a top-up, the tin holds exactly the float, and the top-up itself equals the vouchers paid out since the last one.

The tin

date, voucher, description, category, out, in. One per line, blanks skipped, up to 2000 lines. Leave unused columns empty; top-ups go in the in column.

Lines cap at 400 characters and denomination shorthand at 64 pairs. When both counted fields are filled the denominations win. Amounts stay within 1,000,000,000 and are tallied in whole cents so rounding never drifts.
