Lumpsum calculator

Project a one-time investment with expense ratio, inflation, and tax included, and compare it against a SIP of the same total.

Report a problem

Enter an amount and a number of years to project the investment.

The projection compounds month by month at one net rate, so a half-year horizon works the same as a thirty-year one. Expense ratio, inflation, and tax are three separate layers: costs lower the growth rate, inflation converts nominal to real terms, and tax applies once at the end to the nominal gain above the allowance. The SIP comparison splits the same total into equal monthly lots on the same rate; it is shown before tax. None of this predicts markets: the return you type is an assumption, and results are only as honest as it is. Everything is computed in this tab.

The expense ratio nets out of the return as (1 + return) × (1 − expense) − 1. The allowance defaults to an Indian LTCG-style figure when you turn tax on; set it to whatever your tax system allows.

Returns stay between -50 and 50 percent a year; amounts stay within ±1,000,000,000,000.
