LC resonance calculator

Solves LC resonance for frequency, inductance, or capacitance, with Q, bandwidth, and impedance for series and parallel circuits.

Enter the pair you know to solve the tank.

Series and parallel are opposites at resonance: a series tank collapses to its loss resistance while a parallel tank rises to a peak, so the same ohms give the reciprocal Q on the other topology. Bandwidth is f0/Q between the half-power points. This is the ideal LC model; a real coil also carries self-capacitance and skin effect, and the sweep table assumes neither.

Topology

The resistance is the loss the tank sees: winding resistance in a series circuit, or the resistance across a parallel one. Leave it blank and no Q is claimed.

Quantity fields read SI prefixes with the standard case rules: mH is milli, MHz is mega. Frequency tops out at 1 THz, inductance at 1 MH, capacitance at 1 MF, resistance at 1 T ohm. The solved value is re-checked against the same ceilings.
