Generator fuel calculator

Estimate genset fuel per hour, run time on your tank, and cost per hour and per kWh, calibrated from two load points.

Report a problem

Enter a rating and two calibration points to fit the fuel curve.

The curve is a straight line through your two points: consumption equals a no-load figure plus a fixed amount per kilowatt of load, which is a good model for a diesel set between a quarter and full load and worse outside it. The fuel type only labels the output; the calibration points decide every number, so measured points from your own set beat defaults. Manufacturer data sheets quote consumption at fixed loads with fresh engines and clean fuel, and real installs rarely match them.

Two measured points calibrate the curve to your actual set: run it at two different loads, log the litres per hour at each, enter them here. Your own points beat any generic curve.

Ratings up to 1,000,000 kW, tanks up to 10,000,000 L, hours per day up to 24, numbers within ±1,000,000,000.
