Enter a distance and both cars' numbers to compare them.

Cost per distance multiplies out straight: consumption per km times price. What moves the answer most is where you charge and what your grid or supplier charges per kWh; a cheap home tariff with a high public-charger average can flip the result. The CO2 row prices the EV with your grid figure and the petrol or diesel car with standard tailpipe factors, 2.31 kg per litre of petrol and 2.68 kg per litre of diesel, so it counts exhaust plus electricity generation but nothing else: no refining, manufacturing, or battery-production emissions. Payback divides the purchase premium by the yearly saving and is a simple ratio, not a discounted one.

Charging losses are capped at 95 %. Leave losses at 0 when the efficiency figure comes from an EPA window sticker, because those numbers already include charging losses; EPA-style figures differ from WLTP and user-measured wall-to-wheel numbers, so pick the basis that matches your price inputs.

Every price is yours to enter and nothing is fetched: no live fuel prices, no tariff lookups, no emissions database. The comparison is running cost only; insurance class, depreciation, battery degradation, and resale value are outside its arithmetic.
