Down payment calculator

Work out a down payment by percent or amount, the loan and EMI it leaves, and how long saving for the deposit takes.

Report a problem

Enter a price and a deposit to see the loan it leaves.

The EMI comes from the standard amortisation formula banks quote: loan times the monthly rate over one minus that rate's negative power of the months. Savings earn interest monthly, with each month's deposit added at the end of the month, and the timeline counts whole months. What it does not do: variable or teaser rates, mortgage insurance, property tax, escrow, fees folded into the loan, or payment dates. Other upfront costs count toward the savings goal but not toward the loan, which matches how closing costs usually behave.

Saving for the deposit

The loan rate is capped at 60 % and the term runs 0.1 to 50 years. Savings interest is capped at 50 % and the timeline stops at 1,200 months.
