Break-Even point calculator

Find the break even point in units and revenue from fixed costs, price, and variable cost, with margin of safety and a CVP chart.

Enter fixed costs, a price, and a variable cost to find the break-even point.

Break-even is where contribution margin covers fixed costs exactly: each orders earns price minus variable cost, and the fixed costs divided by that margin is the point. What this does not model: volume discounts or tiered pricing, step-fixed costs that jump when you add staff or capacity, inventory and timing, taxes, and the difference between cash and accrual periods. A linear price and a linear variable cost per unit are the whole story here.

Target profit solves the volume you need on top of covering costs. Expected sales unlock profit, margin of safety, and operating leverage for the period.

Numbers stay within ±1,000,000,000,000. All three money fields must describe the same period: a month of rent against a month of sales, never a year against a month.
