Area calculator

Compute the area of nine common shapes from their dimensions, with the substituted formula shown and conversions to other area units.

This tool is in beta

Report a problem

Enter the dimensions to get the area.

Each shape uses one formula, shown with your numbers substituted in, so the work stays checkable. Conversions run through exact square meters: an inch is exactly 25.4 mm and a foot exactly 0.3048 m, so nothing drifts. This is flat area only; no surface areas of solids, no perimeters, and no curved solids.

Shape and dimensions

Shape
Measured inLength unit; its square is the result unit

Dimensions stay within 1,000,000,000 ft. The triangle takes three sides and applies Heron's formula; the regular polygon needs 3 to 1000 sides; the sector angle runs 0 to 360 degrees.
