APR calculator

Work out the true APR of a loan once fees and compulsory charges are counted, and compare it with the advertised rate.

Report a problem

Enter the loan and its charges to price the credit.

The APR here is the internal rate of return on the actual cash flows: the money that really lands with you at the start against every monthly outflow, narrowed by bisection the way Regulation Z Appendix J describes a constant-yield solve. It is reported as a nominal annual rate (monthly rate times 12) with the effective annual figure beside it, since the two rules differ: the US Truth in Lending style is nominal, the UK APRC style is effective. What it does not do: variable or stepped rates, late fees, early-repayment rebates, rounding rules a specific regulator prescribes, or tax. The spread is a comparison, not a regulated disclosure.

The monthly charge covers required insurance and similar add-ons the lender makes you pay every month. Both count towards the APR.

Rates sit between 0 and 100 % a year, fees between 0 and 100 % of the loan, and terms between 1 and 600 whole months. Money stays within ±1,000,000,000,000. A flat rate charges interest on the full amount for the whole term, the style of many Indian personal and vehicle loans; it is not the same number as a reducing rate.
