Kubernetes resource calculator

Enter workload YAML or per-container requests plus node size and reserve settings to get request and limit totals, QoS per pod, pods per node and a minimum node count, with Kubernetes-exact quantities.

Report a problem

Paste workload YAML or add a workload by hand to total it.

The node count is a lower bound: it fits every pod against the heaviest request in the set and ignores bin-packing, node selectors, affinity and anti-affinity, topology spread, taints, and rolling-update surge. RuntimeClass overhead is not known here, so it is not added. QoS reads the regular container list, and a container that declares only limits gets its request defaulted to those limits, exactly as kube admission does. All arithmetic runs in this tab; no cluster is contacted and nothing is applied.

Workloads and node size

Two worked examples load into the editor on the right. Nothing leaves this tab and nothing is applied to any cluster.

More settings▾

Reservations and the eviction threshold come off node capacity before any pod fit. Leave a field empty to count it as zero.

Add a workload by hand

The paste takes up to 200,000 characters and 200 workloads combined. Quantities read like Kubernetes reads them: 250m, 0.5, 512Mi, 1G, 1e3.
