Note frequency calculator

Convert between note names, frequencies, MIDI numbers, cents, and wavelength under equal temperament, with an adjustable A4 reference.

This tool is in beta

Still being tested. If a result looks wrong, tell us.

Report a problem

Pick a note or type a frequency.

Everything here is twelve-tone equal temperament: the octave is cut into twelve equal steps and A4 is whatever reference you set, 440 by default. Wavelength assumes sound moving through dry air at 20 degrees C, about 343 meters per second; in water or helium the number is different. A frequency that falls between two notes is reported against its nearest note with the leftover shown in cents, never rounded away.
