low detail: a flat 85 tokens. high detail: scale the image so its longest side is at most 2048 px, then scale the shortest side to at most 768 px, cut into 512×512 tiles: 170 tokens per tile plus the 85-token base. Tile count is ceil(w/512) × ceil(h/512) on the scaled dimensions.
