# Metatag length checker

Counts title and meta description lengths against the 70 and 160 character limits with a SERP-style preview, from pasted text or pasted page HTML.

Type a title and description, or paste page HTML, to measure them.

The 70 and 160 character limits are the loose values most checkers show; Google's snippets actually cut by rendered width, roughly 70 characters or about 580 px for titles and about 400 px for descriptions. The pixel figure here is an estimate from a per-character width table, not a font measurement, and a real snippet can still differ. Counts are code points, so one emoji counts as one character. This tool never fetches the page; paste the HTML yourself. The slug keeps the source site's spelling.
