# YouTube chapter generator

Turns an outline or an SRT or VTT file into a chapter list validated against YouTube's rules: 0:00 start, at least three chapters, ten-second minimum spacing, sorted and ready to paste into a description.

YouTube shows chapters in a description when the list starts at 0:00, has at least three entries, and keeps ten seconds or more between starts. This tool checks all three against your times and hands back a list you can paste straight into the description box. It never contacts YouTube, never reads your video file, and does not edit the description for you. Frame-style timecodes like 00:01:02:15 are read at the frame rate you pick, and everything is quantized to that grid before the spacing checks run.
