Your files stay on your device Subtitle reading speed Measure each subtitle cue's reading speed and duration against a guideline and flag the cues that read too fast or sit wrong on screen. Paste a subtitle file and press Check reading speed. Reading speed counts every visible character, spaces and punctuation included, and skips formatting tags; a line break counts as one space. Words are letter and digit runs, so don't is one word and a dash is none. Every cue that reads too fast gets a needs-at-least screen time, its characters divided by the characters-per-second limit; when the gap to the next cue cannot supply that time within the maximum duration, the text needs condensing. Up to 5,000 cues per check, files up to 2 MB, everything worked out in this tab.
