# Sunrise and sunset times

Every twilight phase of one day — astronomical, nautical, civil, golden, sunrise, sunset, solar noon — for a curated city or your own coordinates, on that place's clock.

- SunCalc 2.0.1 (BSD-2-Clause) computes every event as a UTC instant from Meeus/NOAA-derived geometry; the page then renders those instants on the clock of the place you picked.
- A geometric ephemeris, not an almanac: about a minute of accuracy for 1900–2100, which is why dates outside that range are refused instead of silently degrading.
- Sunrise and sunset are horizon events — they assume a flat horizon at your coordinates. Hills and buildings shift the moment you actually see.
- Polar day and polar night are named as such, with the phase table honestly showing nulls.

City list curated from GeoNames (geonames.org — cities500 database, CC BY 4.0), snapshot 2026-08-24, bounded to 151 major cities across six regions. Coordinates rounded to 2 decimals; ids are product slugs, not GeoNames ids.
