Try a sample This is classic inpainting, not generative AI: painted damage is filled from the pixels around it. It mends tears, stains, dust, and creases. It cannot rebuild a missing face or object, so keep the mask tight around the damage. The fill is a fast-marching weighted average (Telea) or a harmonic diffusion pass (Navier-Stokes) over the painted area, computed in this tab from your photo's own pixels. It is an estimate, not a reconstruction: large holes drift toward the average color around them, and nothing is invented to fill them. Damaged scans usually need several passes, one area at a time.
