# Remove scratches from photos

Detects scratches, dust, and cracks into an editable mask, then fills the marked pixels from their surroundings with brush editing and undo.

Detection compares the photo with a median-filtered copy of itself, so it finds thin lines that stand out from their neighborhood: scratches, dust, hairline cracks. It will not mark large soft damage such as stains, fading, or missing corners, and the fill rebuilds masked pixels from nearby detail rather than inventing texture, so wide masks heal into blur. Correct the mask by hand before processing when a mark matters. No AI model is involved, and the photo never leaves this tab.
