The cutout is found by a person-segmentation model (selfie segmentation) that runs in this tab, so it is built for photos of people. Pets, products, and landmarks often cut badly or not at all.

The model file is fetched once from a pinned CDN, so the first use needs network; after that the whole job stays local. Your photo itself never leaves the device, and nothing is uploaded.

This is not generative AI: nothing is invented or filled in, the model only decides which pixels belong to the person and the engine recomposites the pixels you gave it. Hair, thin straps, and a subject dressed like the background are the hard cases; the threshold and feather sliders clean up the edge better than any retry.
