Your files stay on your device SWIFT/BIC code finder Decodes a SWIFT or BIC code into its ISO 9362 parts, flags test and passive codes, and searches a small sample list. Type a BIC to decode it, or search the sample. ISO 9362 splits a code into four letters naming the institution, two letters for the ISO 3166 country, two characters for the location, and an optional three character branch suffix, where XXX means the head office. The location slot carries the conventions worth knowing: a second character of 0 marks a test or training code that must not carry live traffic, 1 a passive participant, and 2 a request for reverse billing. A structural pass says nothing about whether SWIFT has the code on its books today. A withdrawn or reassigned BIC looks exactly like a live one, so confirm against your bank or SwiftRef before a payment depends on a code.
