# Package URL (purl) Parser

Parse purl identifiers against each ecosystem's rules, see exactly which part breaks, and build a valid purl back up from its parts.

Paste purls to validate them.

Validation runs against the purl spec's grammar plus a bundled table of per-type rules: npm scopes keep their %40 encoding, maven group ids use slashes, PyPI names fold to PEP 503. Warnings are things the canonical form quietly changes; errors are things no canonical form can fix. A valid purl means the identifier is well formed, not that the package exists in a registry.
