# Number to words

Writes numbers out in words in the Indian or international system, with cheque style currency amounts and four casing options.

Type a number above.

The word "and" is a decision, not an accident: the American style reads one hundred five, the British style reads one hundred and five. The cheque amounts keep the "and" before the subunit in both styles, since that clause is part of the amount itself, and rupee cheques carry the Indian "only" ending that banks expect. Decimals without a currency are spoken digit by digit after "point", trailing zeros included, and a negative number starts with "minus". Currency amounts stop at two decimal places because that is what the subunit can carry. Everything runs in this tab: nothing is uploaded or sent to analytics.
