# Markup calculator

Enter your cost and a markup percentage to get the selling price and profit amount, with the equivalent profit margin shown beside it.

Enter a cost and a markup to price it.

Markup and margin are the two figures people mix up. Markup divides profit by your cost; margin divides the same profit by the selling price, so margin is always the smaller number and they only match at 0 %. A 25 % markup is a 20 % margin, and a 100 % markup is a 50 % margin. This is plain cost-plus pricing: it leaves out fees, taxes, and volume discounts.
