Your files stay on your device Home energy usage estimator Estimate household electricity use appliance by appliance from watts, hours, and standby draw, with each item's kWh, share, and cost. Fill in every appliance field to see the estimate. Rated watts on a nameplate are a maximum, and the duty cycle guess is exactly that: a fridge compressor cycles near 35 percent, an air conditioner near 60, and a laptop drawing 60 W only while awake. The standby column counts only the hours the appliance is off, so the two loads never double up. A plug-in power meter beats this estimate every time; what this page gives you is the ranking, which appliance carries the bill, at no cost and with nothing uploaded. It works the year out as 365/7 weeks rather than a rounded 52.
