# Antilog calculator

Compute antilogs and logs in base 10, e, 2, or a custom base, with change-of-base working and the characteristic and mantissa shown log-table style.

Enter a value to work the log or antilog.

Characteristic and mantissa are how printed log tables store a logarithm: the whole-number characteristic and a fractional mantissa between 0 and 1. A bar over the characteristic, as in 2-bar-0.3692, means the characteristic is negative while the mantissa stays positive, which is why 0.0234 and 23.4 share the same mantissa. The reverse check runs the opposite operation on the answer; it can differ in the last digit because both directions go through 64-bit floats.
