# ADC resolution

Shows what an ADC bit depth can resolve: step size, quantisation error, ideal SNR, output code, Nyquist rate, and sampled data volume.

Enter a bit depth and a reference voltage.

Resolution is not accuracy. These figures assume an ideal converter: no offset, no integral or differential nonlinearity, no reference drift, and no noise past the quantisation floor, so a real part reads worse than the SNR line suggests. Anti-aliasing is an analogue job too: the Nyquist row tells you the minimum sample rate, and the filter in front of the converter has to do the rest.
