Accepts #hex (3/4/6/8 digits), rgb()/rgba(), and hsl()/hsla(). Channels outside CSS ranges (like rgb(300, 0, 0)) are refused rather than clamped into a different color. Named CSS colors are not parsed — the names dictionary is a plugin this tool deliberately does not load. Round trips through HSL/HSV can shift the last digit: colord converts through floating-point channels.
